Description

Winchester Second Model 1873 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial no. 286842B, .44 W.C.F. caliber, 18 1/2-inch round barrel with fixed front blade sight and rear ladder sight. Blued finish. Saddle ring. Varnished walnut stock and fore-end. Carbine butt with cleaning rod reservoir. No cleaning rod present. Manufactured in 1889. From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
Condition: Good. Retaining faint traces of finish, the balance a grey age patina with scattered wear and pitting. Some screws marred or replaced. Wood showing heavy scratching, scuffs, dents and bruising. Inch long crack from right tip of fore-end to barrel band. Noticeable wood loss to right side of stock at wrist. Pitted buttplate. Action is a little tight. Dark bore.
