Martially Inspected Henry Lever Action Rifle. Serial no. 3470, .44 rimfire, 24-inch barrel with front sight and ladder type rear sight. Top flat marked: Henry's Patent Oct. 16, 1860 / Manufact'd by New Haven Arms Co. New Haven, Ct. Right side of barrel at breech marked: C.G.C. / ? (faint). Lever Action. Steel hammer and lever. Varnished walnut buttstock. Brass frame and brass buttplate with cleaning rod reservoir. Buttplate screws and inside buttplate numbered 3470. Screws holding stock in place mostly marked 3470. Manufactured c. 1863. Condition: Good to very good. Barrel showing a plum brown patina mixed with traces and evidence of a possible rebrowning. Brass frame and buttplate with a mellow age patina. Light marks and nicks to bottom of lifter. Wood with light wear, nicks and mars. Screws are marred. Action good. Bore somewhat pitted. A very nice representative early martially marked Henry rifle.
