Henry Model 1860 Repeating Lever Action Rifle.

Serial no. 6555, .44 rimfire caliber, 24-inch octagonal barrel with standard barrel address HENRY'S PATENT OCT. 16 1860 / MANUFACT'D BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CT. Brass frame with blued barrel. Walnut stock. Brass oval escutcheon inlaid on left side of stock. Sling swivel on left side of barrel/magazine. Manufactured approximately in 1864. Research and quotes with the help of Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms. According to Flayderman's, The Henry Rifle was developed from the Volcanic, and was built around the new 44 rimfire cartridge. Approximately 14,000 made between 1860-1866. Note: This gun last sold at Greg Martin Auctions, Estate Arms Collections Sale, Featuring The Estate of Ira Yeager, June 6-7, 2004, Lot 107.

Condition: Very good for this model, with scattered pitting throughout. Overall brown patina with pitting and scattered patches to barrel and iron parts. Some dents to brass frame. Gun appears to be partially cleaned. Adjustment bar missing from rear sight. Front sight blade altered. Marred screws. Oval escutcheon inlay placed where swivel mount would normally be. A somewhat moderate split in two areas on stock near buttplate, intact but visible. Action good. Bore good, a bit dark.
