Manufactured January 1863.

Engraved Henry Lever Action Rifle.
Serial no. 1495 (all matching including tang screws, butt stock and left side of tang under the wood), .44 rimfire caliber, 24 1/4-inch octagonal barrel with standard blade front sight and adjustable rear sight calibrated to 800 yards. This is an early style Henry receiver with dove-tail cut for an alternate rear sight. Silver-plated receiver and butt plate profusely scroll-engraved and identical to no. 1441 on page 15 of Wilson's "The Book of Winchester Engraving." Also see page 41 for a very similar example which Wilson describes as a Nimschke pattern. Early, rounded buttplate tang. Four-piece Henry cleaning rod present.

Condition: Fine to excellent retaining approximately 70-80% original blue fading to a gray-brown patina. Good bright bore with scattered fine to moderate pitting. Pitting at the muzzle.
