Description
Cased Presentation Winchester Model 1873 Target Rifle. Serial no. 104990A. .32-20 Winchester. 24-inch octagonal barrel with button half magazine. Casehardened action, left action panel engraved with: Archibaldo Guedea to his friend Lauro Gomez. Folding Beech front sight. Adjustable set trigger. Winchester sporting rear sight, missing elevator. Winchester 1873 tang- mounted folding peep sight with sliding elevator section over a graduated fixed section. Missing locking screw. Finely checkered half pistolgrip stock of highly figured walnut. Horn insert at grip. Blued steel buttplate. Finely checkered fore-end of highly figured walnut. Mahogany case with French fitted green velvet interior with cut-outs for rifle, mould, powder measures, and combination. Winchester mould and combination tool marked: 32 Win. Brass powder dipper marked: 20. Bakelite case block for 100 cases with 58 in place.Condition: Fine. Barrel shows 90-95% bluing, with five one-inch deep scratches at base. Bore shows heavy frosting and some darkness. Some deep pitting at mid-point. Action shows 80-90% mostly muted case colors with 10-15% vibrant colors. Lever with a brown gray patina and traces of case colors. Set trigger does not set. Buttplate shows 80-90% bluing. Stock shows numerous light marks and a few deeper. One inch by two inch patch of concentrated light marks on left side.
Case exterior in fine condition with some marks. Interior in fair condition with wear and some losses. Tools are in fine condition.
