Description
Brown & Ballard Falling Block Single Shot Rifle.Serial no. 21174 [barrel and receiver], .44 caliber, 27 1/2-inch round barrel with fixed front blade sight and rear elevation sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Rear peep sight. Checkered walnut straight stock and fore-end. Crescent metal buttplate. Original brass museum inventory tag attached: J.M. DAVIS / 3355 / MEMORIAL.
Sold to Benefit The JM Davis Collection at the JM Davis Arms and Historical Museum, Part II.
Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of original finish, the balance a dark grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Noticeable scuffs, scratches and dings to wood. Action crisp. Strong bore.
