A Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle Owned by 7th Cavalry Sergeant John Ryan

Serial no. 418227 [lower tang], .38 caliber, 24 ½-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear elevation sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Dust cover. Smooth hardwood straight stock and fore-end. Crescent metal buttplate with cleaning rod reservoir. Manufactured in 1892. The Winchester Model 1873 is one of the most legendary rifles in American history-often called "The Gun that Won the West." It was a rugged, reliable, and iconic lever-action rifle that became a favorite among settlers, lawmen, outlaws, and cowboys alike.

Condition Report*: In overall very good condition. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs, dings and scratches present to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
