Description
C. Sharps 1852 Breechloading Single Shot Sporting Rifle.Serial no. 12288, .41 caliber, 26-inch octagonal and round barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding sight. Top of barrel marked: SHARPS RIFLE / MANUF. CO. / HARTFORD. CONN. Upper tang marked: C. SHARPS / PATENT / 1848. Lock marked: C. SHARPS / PATENT / 1852. Oil-finished walnut stock with hinged cap box. Carbine brass buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with scattered signs of wear and patches of pitting. Scuffs, dings and bruising to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
