Description
U.S. Springfield Sporterized Model 1898 Krag Bolt Action Rifle.Serial no. 141494. .30-40 Krag. 23-inch barrel with fixed front sight. Original rear sight base holes have been filled. Fitted with a Redfield aperture sight. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. / MODEL 1898 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 141494". The original walnut stock has been altered with the addition of a pistol grip, added height to the butt, and Pachmayr rubber recoil pad. The wrist of the stock has been crudely checkered.
Condition: Good as modified. 85% bluing remains with trace case colors on the receiver. Lacking magazine cutoff. The stock has a few scattered light scratches and abrasions. A former owner's ID number is electric penciled on the side plate. Bright bore and in sound mechanical condition.
