    U.S. Springfield Model 1896 Krag Carbine.
    Serial no. 29215. .30-40 Krag. 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and Model 1896 rear sight. Metal parts blued; receiver casehardened. Saddle ring assembly inlet and mounted on the left side of the stock above the trigger. Receiver marked "U.S. / 1895 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 29215". Walnut stock with no visible cartouches. Pachmayr rubber recoil pad.

    Condition: Fair. Retains approximately 20% blue, the remainder worn thin and with a smooth brown patina. Traces of case color remaining on the receiver. No magazine cutoff. Stock heavily varnished and with scattered light to moderate scratches and dents. Lacking hand guard. Bore gray with some pitting and modestly worn rifling. Mechanically sound though there is a bit of play in the closed bolt position.
