Description

U.S. Model of 1922 M2 Bolt Action Training Rifle Manufactured by Springfield Armory. Serial No. 1730A, .22 long rifle caliber, 24-inch barrel with standard military front sight. Barrel marked SA over ordnance bomb and dated 5-37. Lyman 48C receiver sight. Single barrel band and two sling swivels. Bright bolt with knurled cocking piece and marked D 28223-2 on the body and M2 on the flat of the handle. Military style finish except bolt which is bright. Walnut stock with flat-based pistol grip, grasping grooves and checkered buttplate. Flat of pistol grip marked M2 and the number D 25225 is stamped on the lower edge of the butt.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 85-90% of the finish with modest wear from use. The entire rifle looks to have had a coat of sealer applied at some point which is wearing off in some locations. Bright bore.
