Description

French Gras Model 1874 Bolt Action Rifle. Serial no. 56511 (on the bolt), 11mm caliber, 32 ¼-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable leaf rear sight. Blued, bolt in the white. Component numbers not matching. Manufactured by Chatellerault with a barrel date of 1876. Straight hardwood stock with two barrel, two sling swivels, cleaning rod and metal buttplate. Accompanied by a French Model 1874 bayonet and scabbard. These rifles were extensively used in the Balkans and French colonial areas from the 1870s through WWI.

Condition: Good. Finish worn to a brown patina with deep pitting along the stock line and light scattered pitting elsewhere. Stock with the usual dents, dings and abrasions. Mechanically sound with a serviceable bore. Bayonet and scabbard in very good condition.
