Description

JUDAEA. Roman period, circa 100-250 CE. Small bronze suspension oil lamp. Of elegant shape, just over 4 inches (10.6 cm) in length, with a handle in the form of a five-petal flower, with triple suspension chain 7.5 inches (19 cm) in length. Intact and unusually complete, with light green-earthen patina. With custom display stand. See British Museum Collection, item #1856,1226.1005, for a lamp of similar form with a floriate handle, found in the Bay of Naples.

From the Barakat Biblical Collection, imported prior to 1982. Found in Israel, 1970s.
