Description
ANCIENT NEAR EAST. Iron Age II, circa 925-568 BC. Bronze votive ram figurine. Solid cast, the beast stands 1.9 inches (5.2 cm) high and is 2.2 inches (5.3 cm) long, his feet on a split integral rectangular base, triangular, with with curved horns to either side. Green patina with earthen encrustation. Cf. Animals In Ancient Art from the Leo Mildenberg Collection (Cleveland Museum, 1981), page 101, 82 (goat, described as "eastern Greek or Anatolian, 7th century BC").From the Barakat Biblical Collection, found in Israel, 1980s.
