    Ushabti For General

EGYPT. Late Dynastic Period, 30th Dynasty, reign of Nectanebo II (360-342 BCE). Green glazed faience ushabti for General Pa Khaas. Standing 6.75 inches (18 cm) tall, this elegant mummiform figure wears a tripartite wig and braided beard, with hands crossed over chest holding the ceremonial crook and flail, and a seed bag over left shoulder. The framed frontal column of hieroglyphics reads: "The Illuminated One, the Osiris, the General of the Army, Pa Khaas, born of Ibhames, True of Voice." Cf. Cairo Museum, page 410, nos. 47465-47473, found in Giza. Intact and in superb condition, with only minor wear to green glaze, and clearly readable hieroglyphics. With custom acrylic stand.

Ex Dr. Bob Brier Collection, New York; Thalassic Collection of Ted Halkedis, obtained in 1974 from Sayed Mollattam, Licensed Egyptian Dealer.

Pa-Khaas was a high official, serving in both civil and military roles, in the court of the last native Pharaoh of Egypt, Nectanebo II. His tomb was discovered on the Giza Plateau in 1840.
