Description

ISRAELITE. Iron Age II, circa 925-586 BCE. Terracotta Funnel Flask. Standing 7 inches (17 cm) tall, with a squat conical body, 7.5 inches (19 cm) wide, with loop handle, and a tall, narrow neck, this vessel is specifically designed to fill larger amphorae with liquids such as wine or olive oil. Of terracotta covered with white lime slip, now of earthen hues. Expertly recomposed from three large fragments, the cracks partially covered with silt.
