Description
Apache Police Badge with Provenance. 1.75" x 2" lead badge with tree, leaf, and sunrise decorative elements, inscribed "US Apache Police" around an open-work five-pointed star. Pierced in seven places, possibly a result of having been affixed to a gun stock. Accompanied by a Letter of Provenance indicating the item was found by "Lorenzo Hickok while employed as a civilian wagon master somewhere along the trail near Fort Sumner, New Mexico." Lorenzo Hickok was the brother of "Wild Bill" Hickok. Numerous bends in the surface, but decent overall.Auction Info
