Pair of English Flintlock Traveling Pistols by Harcourt, Ipswich. .54 caliber, 6 1/8-inch octagonal damascus barrels with steel under-ribs. Top flats marked: Harcourt Ipswich.. Silver sights. Double gold-inlaid and dentate bands at breeches. Scroll-engraved lock mechanisms marked: Harcourt. Ship's prow pans and roller frizzens. Engraved screws. Silver touch-hole bushings. Varnished walnut stocks with checkered grips, silver oval wedge escutcheons and engraved and blued steel furniture. Left sides of stocks with Broad Arrow proofs and stamped 8953 and 8954 respectively. Hardwood ramrods with brass tips. Vacant silver oval wrist escutcheons. Both pistols contained in an associated period varnished, light green baize-lined walnut case, with circular brass escutcheon, the inner lid with an original Bales & King gun maker label with address listed as No.29 Tavistock Street, Covent Garden, London, Inventors Of A Self Primer. Case contains guns, single cavity bullet mold, brass powder flask, screwdriver, cleaning rod, pewter oiler, ball supply and case key. Conditon: Pistols. Very good to fine, the barrels and locks showing smooth, grey patina. Triggerguards retaining approximately 70-75% blue finish. Wood very good with minor wear and marks. Actions excellent. Accessories with age wear and patina. Case with light wear to exterior and moderate wear and fading to interior. Interior label with wear, perforations and discoloration.
