Pair of British Flintlock Pistols by P. Bond, 45 Cornhill, London, 1794-1816. .58-caliber, 8 7/8-inch brass octagonal barrels with bead post front sights. London and English proofs at breeches[crown over PB]. Top flats marked: P. Bond, Cornhill, London. Dentate banding at breech. Engraved steel upper tangs and screws. Finely appointed flintlock mechanisms with roller frizzens and sliding safeties. Locks marked: P. Bond. Varnished walnut stocks with shield-shaped silver wrist escutcheons engraved with faint family crest and script initial monogram CC. Handsomely engraved silver furniture and oval wedge escutcheons. Inner gripstrap with English silver proofs. Mismatched horn and hardwood ramrods. Condition: Both are very good. Metal showing light age wear and patina. Minor spots of pitting on locks. Stocks with light wear, minor repairs to tiny hairline crack and fore-end of one pistol. Lock mechanisms crisp.
