U.S. Smith & Wesson First Model, Model 3 Schofield Single Action Revolver.

Serial no. 1348 [barrel and butt], .45 caliber, 5-inch ribbed barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer and trigger. Right side of barrel marked: SCHOFIELD'S PAT. with W.F. & CO'S EX stamped over. Smooth walnut grip panels. U.S. stamped on butt.
Together with photocopy of S&W Factory letter by Roy Jinks detailing the history of the Model 3 Schofield in general then states this gun [by serial number] "was shipped from our factory on July 12, 1875 and delivered to the United States Armory, located in Springfield, Massachusetts."

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a mottled grey patina with noticeable areas of age, handling wear and pitting. Heavy dins and bruises present to wood, with some loss at corners. Action functions. Lightly pitted bore.
