U.S. Martially Marked Colt Model 1860 Springfield Conversion #78 Single Action Revolver.
Serial no. 57590 [triggerguard], 84599 [barrel], 11875 [butt], 332 [butt] and 78 [barrel, frame, triggerguard and cylinder], .44 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued and case-hardened finish. Top of barrel marked: - ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA -. Etched cylinder scene with edge reading: ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843. U.S. stamped to left side of barrel. COLT'S / PATENT to left side of frame. Silver-plated brass triggerguard with Ainsworth "A" inspector mark. Smooth walnut one-piece grip with faint cartouche to left side.

Condition: Very good to fine. Retaining approximately 60-70% finish with scattered areas of thinning, handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Vibrant case-colors remaining. Noticeable scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore. The Michael Ward Collection of Western Americana
