U.S. Martial Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver.

Serial no. 90917 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder, lever and butt, wedge not removed], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight [replacement]. Top of barrel one-line reads -ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT.- Blued finish. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame; small U.S. marking underneath. "G" stamp on left side of triggerguard near rear of frame. Iron triggerguard and backstrap. Smooth walnut one-piece grip, right side carved with initials P / O.
According to '51 Colt Navies by Nathan L Swayze, gun is a Late Navy-Navy, see page 49. Gun was manufactured in 1859. So called "black navy" according to consignor notes.

Condition: Good, retaining approximately 10-15% finish with balance turned dark brown; spotting and mottled patina present. Dings and scratches around wedge area. Grips appear to be replacements, with minor scuffs, dings and wear, 1/4-inch chip. Marred screws. Action ok with slight spacing. Bore dark. From the Collection of Oran B. Jolley.
