Description
Early Serial Number, Second Year Production.
U.S. Colt Single Action Army Revolver.Serial no. 10741 [frame] and 17304 [triggerguard], no markings or address [on barrel], .45 caliber, 5 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Originally a blued finish with case-hardened hammer and frame. Two-line, two-date patents and U.S. to left side of frame. Smooth walnut one-piece grip, with faint stamp and cartouche to right side.
The Colt Single Action Army (SAA) revolver, also known as the "Peacemaker," is one of the most iconic firearms in American history. Introduced by Colt's Manufacturing Company in 1873, this single-action revolver quickly gained fame as the sidearm of choice for soldiers, lawmen, cowboys, and outlaws during the American West's frontier era. With this one being a second year production, manufactured in 1874.
Note: Although early in production based on the serial numbers, we believe this gun to be a "parts gun".
Condition. Very good as configured. Barrel and Cylinder appear to be later replacements. Cylinder with traces of a gold wash finish in protected areas. Finish primarily a bright grey patina with honest age, handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Barrel address is absent. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Marred screws. Action is good.
