New York Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver.
Serial no. 28359 [all matching including cylinder], .45 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel. Originally blued finish, gun is now an even grey patina. Gun is profusely engraved in the Nimschke style. Fitted with slim jim Mother of Pearl two-piece grips. Gun is accompanied by a Colt Factory letter confirming configuration of serial number, caliber, barrel length, finish, type of stocks and shipping destination. Type of stocks and barrel length marked NOT LISTED, which Colt Historian has explained in remarks, as being considered the standard issue for the time period, Walnut stocks and 7 1/2-inch barrel. Gun was shipped to Spies Kissam and Company in Sept. 1, 1876 in a shipment of 39. According to research and records, "Spies, Kissam & Co. were dealers in sporting goods, especially Colt's. In the 1876, the company got large orders of SA's from Colt and sent them to the Nimschke and other NY shops for engraving."

Condition: Very good as configured. Gun now a smooth grey patina overall with areas of pitting. Possible repair to barrel near loading gate towards muzzle. Some faint spots of bluing present around loading gate and protected areas. Pearl grips with nice color, repair to left grip and stress crack around right screw washer. Action crisp. Strong rifle, but some pitting present.
