Merwin, Hulbert & Co. First Model Frontier Army Single Action Revolver Marked U.P.R.R. Co.
Serial no. 941. .44 caliber, 7-inch barrel. Integral pinch front sight. Nickel-plated finish with scarce red and black checkered hard rubber grips. Open top with scoop flutes on cylinder. Backstrap marked UPRR CO. Left side of barrel marked THE HOPKINS & ALLEN MANUFACTURING CO. NORWICH, CONN. USA. Noticeable early features, 2 screws above triggerguard and humpback hammer. Sold together with a rare and scarce copy of THE STORY OF MERWIN, HULBERT & CO. FIREARMS by Art Phelps. This gun is pictured and described on page 109 of the book under Notable and Notorious "Merwins."

Condition: Good to very good. Retaining approximately 30-40% nickel finish (primarily on frame and cylinder) with balance on barrel, triggerguard and backstrap, a gray patina with noticeable scattered wear and pitting. Grips very good with noticeable checkering. Action good. Bore dirty.
