Exceptional Colt Model 1862 Police Conversion Revolver. Serial no. 6506, .38 caliber, 4 ½-inch barrel with brass post front sight and single-line New York address, Ejector rod and housing. Blued finish. 5-shot cylinder with stagecoach hold-up scene. Case-hardened hammer, conversion band and frame. Two-line Colt patent dates. Unplated brass triggerguard and gripstrap assembly. Fire-blued trigger. Varnished one-piece walnut grips. According to Breslin, Pirie and Price in "Variation of Colt's New Model Police & Pocket Breech Loading Pistols" this is a Type 2 revolver. This example is a newly made gun assembled at the factory as a cartridge pistol, not a conversion. Type 2 total production: 7800.

Condition: Excellent to mint with slight wear and scratches present on barrel, ejector rod housing and some relief edges.
