Colt Third Model Dragoon Percussion Revolver.
Serial no. 18656(all matching except wedge), .44 caliber, 8-inch barrel with German silver blade front sight. Barrel flat with: ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY. Brass trigger guard and backstrap. Front trigger bow with inspector's W. Guard near from with G. Varnished walnut grips. Manufactured 1860. Contained in brown leather flap holster. Property from the Estate of John R. Condition: Good. Metal has a mostly smooth, mottled gray-brown patina with scattered patches of fine pitting. Front sight likely a period replacement. Cylinder with scattered patches of moderate pitting and signs of having been cleaned. No scene remains. Brass has a mellow age patina and a few small dents. Grips are fine with nice, even age wear. Action functions but cylinder does not spin freely at half-cock. Holster is good to very good. Supple leather but with some dryness and light crackling on creases and at toe. Tear in loop.
