Serial no. 9976(all matching except loading lever), .44 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel. Barrel flat marked: ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY. Inspector's H on barrel lug, cylinder and triggerguard. Left side of frame reading: COLTS/PATENT/U.S. Brass straps and square triggerguard. Varnished walnut grips the left panel with inspector's H on butt. Property from the Estate of John R. Condition: Good to very good. Barrel and cylinder now a smooth, thin brown patina with scattered dents. Loading lever likely a replacement. Muted case colors on frame with scattered fine pitting. Recoil shield with signs of having been buffed. Mellow patina to brass. Grips: Fine. Bore is fine showing very little wear. Action smooth. Triggerguard has signs of heavy cleaning and restamped serial number.
