Description

Colt SAA Revolver Inscribed to Texas Ranger, Kid Rogers.

Serial no. 97075 [frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt]. .44 caliber. 4 3/4-inch barrel. Top of barrel reads COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT U.S.A. Three-line, three-date patent address on left side of frame. 44CF on triggerguard. Backstrap elegantly engraved in script KID / ROGERS / TEXAS / RANGERS. Currently, the firearm is without its grip panels, as the right grip remains intact, the left grip is broken with only the bottom half remaining, making it unable to stay securely in place [both panels are included in the sale]. Included in the sale is a photocopy image of "Kid" Rogers with what appears to be his older brother John H. Rogers.

Curren "Kid" Rogers was a notable Texas Ranger who enlisted in Company F of the Frontier Battalion at the age of 16 in 1885. He was the younger brother of John H. Rogers, another distinguished Texas Ranger captain.

Condition: Good, an even dark patina overall with areas of pitting, heavier on cylinder and barrel. Tracking line present. Some purposedly placed notches on barrel and punch dots on butt present. Grips as mentioned above, with issues but appear original to the gun. Action good, bore dark. ?
