Description
Shipped to Governor William Dennison, Columbus Ohio, June 14, 1861.
Colt Model 1860 Fluted Army Percussion Revolver.Serial no. 2029 [all matching including wedge 029], 44 caliber, 8-inch round barrel marked - ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT -. Originally blued with walnut grips. Cut for shoulder stock. Cylinder flute also marked PATENTED SEPT 10th, 1850. Inspector marks to left side of frame near triggerguard area. Note: Fluted cylinder examples did not have cylinder decorations, also found in the serial number range of #3 to approximately #8000. The fluted cylinder Army was referred to in the factory records as the "cavalry" model [see The Book of Colt Firearms by RL Wilson, pages 161-163 for more information]. Sold together with Colt Factory Letter confirming configuration; Blue, 44/c, 8:, Wood and shipped to Governor William Dennison / Columbus, Ohio on June 14, 1861 in a shipment of 300. Contained in modern display case, no accessories.
Condition: Good for this model. Age wear and patina, mostly bright gray, cleaned at some point. Grips ok with some loses to heel. Case very good with minor handling. Action very crisp. Bore ok.
