Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver.

Serial no. 169882 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt, wedge not removed], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight. Top of barrel one-line reads -ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA- Blued finish. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame. B stamping on triggerguard front of trigger. Brass triggerguard, frontstrap and backstrap. J stamp on heel on top of screw and serial number. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Gun was manufactured in 1863. Gun is late fourth model, but has characteristics of early fourth model [hammer and recoil shield cut out] see '51 Colt Navies by Nathan L Swayze, page 55.

Condition: Good, retaining approximately 5-10% finish in protected areas with balance turned dark gray color; spotting and mottled patina present. Scene visible but thin. Grips appear excellent but have been re-varnished; minor scuffs and dings present. Marred screws. Action ok with moderate spacing. Bore dark. Gun is a bit loose. From the Collection of Oran B.
