Description
Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver.Serial no. 151668 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt, 51668 on wedge], .31 caliber, 5-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight. Top of barrel two-line reads ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW YORK CITY. Blued and case-hardened finish. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame. M marking to left side of triggerguard near frame. Large steel triggerguard. steel backstrap. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1859. Please note: Only 625 total produced according to Colt's Variations of the Old Model Pocket Pistol 1848 to 1872 by Schumaker, page 75.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth gray color with signs of handling wear, age and faint pitting. About 40% silver plating present. 80-90% varnish on grips, with minor wear mostly to bottom section. Some marring to screws. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Action functions. Good bore.
