Description
Cased Pair of Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolvers.Comprising: 1) Serial no. 186073, .44 caliber, 8-inch round barrel with New York address. Blued and case-hardened finish. Naval engagement scene and matching serial number on cylinder. Not cut for shoulder stock. Left side of frame with standard patent and caliber markings. Antique ivory grips. 2) Serial no. 170108, .44 caliber, 8-inch round barrel with New York address. Blued and case-hardened finish. Naval engagement scene and matching serial number on cylinder. Not cut for shoulder stock. Left side of frame with standard patent and caliber markings. Antique ivory grips. Both revolvers contained in an antique green felt-lined hardwood case with brass fittings. Case contains: 1) Reproduction powder flask; 2) Colts 2-cavity steel bullet mold; 3) Four antique cap tins from various manufacturers; 4) Antique Peters pasteboard box for primers; 5) Antique screwdriver. Condition: 1) Very good to fine. Retaining traces of blue mostly in protected areas, the balance a slightly mottled blue-brown patina. Patches of fine to moderate pitting at muzzle and sides of hammer. Cylinder scene visible. Muted case colors. Dark age patina to brass and backstrap. Grips fine showing normal age shrinkage. Action crisp and tight. 2) About good. Metal now a brown patina . Patches of fine pitting at muzzle. Front sight a replacement. Cylinder scene visible but showing wear and dents. Mellow patina to brass. Light pitting on backstrap Grips good with moderate barking throughout showing normal age shrinkage. Loss to left grip panel at triggerguard. Action tight. 3-5) All good to fine with age wear and patina. Pasteboard box with tears and scuffs.
