Cased Colt Second Model 1855 Root Single Action Spur Trigger Revolver. Serial no. 24242, .28 caliber, 3 7/16-inch octagonal barrel with two-line Hartford address with pointing hand motif. Blued finish. Case-hardened side hammer and lever. Cabin and Indian cylinder scene. Unfluted cylinder. Spur trigger. Factory one-piece ivory grip. Contained in green felt-lined partitioned factory mahogany case together with brass Colt's Patent two-cavity bullet mold; empty, small japanned Eley cap tin with embossed lid and unmarked Colt's Patent style, brass pistol powder flask with Eagle and Union shield motif. Lock on front of case but no key present. Condition: Revolver: Fine. Retaining approximately 55-60% finish with wear to gripstrap, cylinder and relief edges. Grips excellent with light patina. Action crisp. Case with light wear and marks. Interior with possibly relined lid and light wear to compartments.
