Description
U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Pistol by H. Aston.Unserialized, .54 caliber, 8 1/2-inch barrel with brass blade front sight. Lock stamped: MIDDTN / CONN / 1850 and US / H. ASTON forward of hammer. Metal parts finished bright originally, blued trigger. Smooth hardwood stock with brass barrel band, triggerguard and grip cap. Double cartouche marks to left side of stock. Swivel type metal ramrod.
Note: Approximately 24,000 made from 1846 to 1850.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a bright grey patina with noticeable handling wear and surface rust. Scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Cracks just below wrist. Action function. Lightly pitted bore.
