Description
Unmarked Bowie Knife-Flintlock Pistol and Scabbard.10 3/4-inch clip point blade with sharpened false edge and 6-inch fuller. Dual brass guard. Brass grip frame with engraved and scalloped pommel cap. Smooth hardwood grip panels retained by two brass studs. Right side of grip with single-shot flintlock pistol. Approximately .44 caliber, 3-inch, 2-stage barrel with cannon muzzle. Retained to knife's right grip panel with engraved brass tang. Initials: WM in brass behind hammer. Contained in brown leather scabbard with brass fittings. Throat with belt hook. Property from the Estate of John R. Eckel, Sr.
Condition: Good to very good. Polished steel blade with scattered small patches of fine pitting and staining. Mellow patina to brass. Hardwood grips slightly ill-fitting due to age shrinkage and old repair to right panel. Action stiff and untested. Scabbard good with age wear, patina and minor scuffs.
