Number 53 of Approxiamtely 200
Scarce Tompkins Precision Model Single Shot Hinge Lock Pistol.Serial no. 53, 8-inch round barrel, .22 LR. Blued finish with one piece checkered walnut stock with black plastic grip cap. Single shot, hinge lock pistol with front blade and adjustable rear sights, serrated trigger and hammer spur. Marked A.H.TOMPKINS / SPRINGFIELD / MASS.,U.S.A. on the top of the chamber, MF'D. AT/VARSITY MFG.CO. on the right and PATENT APPLD. FOR / MFG. NO. 53 to the left. Note: According to records, this was a limited production, this one being number 53 out of approximately 200 manufactured between 1947 and 1953.
Condition: Excellent, the pistol retains approximately 92-95% plus of the original blue finish with a few light handling marks, some high edge wear and a few light scratches on the barrel sides. The wood is fine to excellent with some faint handling wear, minor dings and crisp checkering. Some residue near rear sight, should clean. Plastic black cap with handling wear and minor scuffs to edges. Action good, bore good.
