Description
Henry Nock 1741-1804, British Inventor and Engineer of the Napoleonic Period.
Scarce H. Nock Folding Bayonet Blunderbuss Pistol.Approximately 1-inch bore at muzzle. 7-inch brass half round half octagonal barrel flared at the muzzle. Walnut grip with vacant german silver oval wrist escutcheon. Marked LONDON on right side frame and H. NOCK on left. Both sides with engraved Arms panoplies to complement the markings along with a few accent engraved features to upper tang and safety. Steel triggerguard, bayonet, hammer, frizzen, ramrod with brass ferule. Scarce right side spring loaded folding triangular bayonet.
Note: Henry Nock (1741-1804) was a British inventor and engineer of the Napoleonic period, he is best known as a gunsmith. His guns are always well collected and respected in the antique gun community.
Condition: Very good. Brass with light wear and patina, lightly cleaned. Metal with light wear and signs of cleaning with fine pitting on parts. Metal and brass with areas of stress marks, around screws and a few small cracks. Grip in good condition with numerous dings and mars. Some oxidation and verdigris to brass. Bore is fine. Action good and tight.
