Fine Cased Pair of French Percussion Dueling Pistols by Devisme A Paris. .46 caliber, 10-inch blued octagonal barrels with multi-groove rifling. Top flats engraved: Devisme Boulevard des Italiens No. 26 A Paris. Scroll-engraved patent breeches and sighted tangs numbered respectively 1 and 2 in gold. Signed and scroll-engraved locks. Scroll-engraved steel furniture. Ebonized half-stocks, the fore-ends and fluted grips with intaglio scrollwork panels. Wrists with browned steel escutcheons embossed with gold monogram CMR .Complete with red velour-lined French style case. Lid with brass banding and inlaid with engraved brass panels in the floral style. Interior of lid gilt-stamped: 26 Boulevart Des Italiens/Devisme/Arquerbusier Brevette. Accessories include: ebonized mallet, cleaning and loading rods, nipple wrench, bullet mold, two ebonized round boxes and signed powder measure. Condition: Fine. Barrels retain approximately 90% plus blue finish, showing edge wear and scattered pitting. Locks, furniture and stocks excellent. Case lid with some loss to finish. Lining showing some wear, staining and fading. Accessories in fine condition.Auction Info
