Fine Blunderbuss Flintlock Pistol by Ketland.

Approximately .950" bore at muzzle, 7 3/4-inch round brass barrel. Top of the barrel is engraved LONDON with British proofs to the left near breech. Lockplate [early type] marked KETLAND / & CO forward of hammer and period decoration in rear. Walnut stock with a carved clamshell motif rear of the engraved iron upper tang. Gun appears to be late 18th century. Ramrod present.
Ketland & Co. was a well-known British firearms manufacturer during the 18th and early 19th centuries, was known for producing quality weapons, both for military and civilian markets. The firm supplied firearms across the British Empire, including to American buyers before and after the Revolutionary War. Although larger blunderbusses were used aboard ships, the pistol version was sometimes carried by naval officers or military personnel who needed a compact, powerful firearm for boarding actions or personal defense.

Condition: Fine for this model. Nice mellow attractive patina overall. Stock is very good to fine with just minor handling, light bruising and stress marks near muzzle area.
