Description
Contemporary Cased and Engraved Pair of Percussion Dueling Pistols, 20th Century.Unserialized, approximately .44 calibers, 10-inch fluted octagonal barrels with fixed front and rear sights. Rifled bores. Nickel-plated finish. Elaborately scroll engraved barrels, Locks, hammers and triggerguards. Grooved walnut one-piece grips. Carved diamond shape metal grip caps. Contained in fitted wood display case with maroon felt lining. Sold along with wooden cap holder, nipple wrench, cleaning tools, hammer, bullet mold and powder flask. Note: Set is a modern reproduction.
Percussion dueling pistols were used during the height of dueling culture, which began to decline in the late 19th century as laws against dueling were more strictly enforced and societal views on honor and conflict resolution shifted.
Condition: Very good as refinished. Overall showing light handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Few minor scuffs present to wood. Action good. Bores bright. Light storage wear present to case.
