Cased Pair of Engraved French Pirmet Dueling Pistols with Accessories.

Unserialized, approximately .54 caliber, 9 1/2-octagonal barrels with fixed front sights. Blued finish. Tops of barrels marked: PIRMET. Elaborately scroll engraved coin-finished lock, hammer, upper tang and triggerguard. Intricately carved hardwood pistolgrip stocks. Oversized metal grip caps. Contained in wooden display case with fitted felt-lined compartments. Brass escutcheon to the top of the lid with the initials: M.E. Label on the inside of lid reads: PIRMET / 15, ALLEE D'ANTIN. / PARIS. Sold along with nipple wrench, two extra nipple, powder flask, bullet mold, cap container, hammer, cleaning tools and key. Case dimensions are: 18 1/4-inches x 10-inches x 3 1/4-inches. Pirmet commemorated in Paris at 15 allée d'Antin in the years 1839 - 1850. The duel was an established ritual of honor in France from the 17th century onward. By the late 18th and early 19th centuries, pistols replaced swords as the weapon of choice.

Condition: Very good to excellent. Each retaining approximately 80-85% finish with thinning to relief edges, handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Few scattered scuffs and dings present to wood. Actions good. Strong bores. Case displaying noticeable storage wear.
