Cased & Engraved John Blanch London Percussion Traveling Belt Pistols.A matched pair of .68 caliber pistols, each with approximately 4-inch octagonal barrels. Top of barrels marked J. BLANCH. LONDON and with English proofs present to the barrels. The frames are engraved, with light outline engraving also visible along the barrel muzzles. Both pistols feature checkered grips terminating in pommels with enclosed compartments for percussion caps, and are fitted with steel swivel ramrods. Vacant German silver oval escutcheons present on both guns. The set is housed in a green velour-lined fitted case and includes a powder flask with decorative motif, wad cutting tool and a bullet mold, along with additional small accessories, the interior lid retains a John Blanch [Gun Maker to his Majesty] trade label.
Condition: Very good, pistols show London twist finish with light to moderate wear consistent with age, including scattered surface patina and minor handling marks; engraving on frames remain visible. Belt hooks with some bluing present. The accessories show expected age and use. Actions good. Bores ok. The wooden case is in fair condition with visible wear, some separation and loss to interior partitions, and general aging to the lining. Label is dried with minor loss.
