Henry Andrew Thomas [1850-1912] lived near violence most of his life, beginning with his service in the Civil War as an adolescent. Afterwards, he worked in various law enforcement capacities in Georgia, Texas, and in Arkansas where he served as a deputy U.S. marshal under Judge Isaac Parker. Later he worked with fellow deputy U.S. marshals Chris Madsen and Bill Tilghman - a trio known as the Three Guardsmen - to bring justice to the Indian Territory. The Guardsmen gained a reputation for bringing over 300 outlaws, including members of the Doolin and Dalton gangs, to justice; Thomas himself killed Bill Doolin.

Condition Good as configured. Faint traces of bluing in protected areas, with moderated wear overall with gray patina and some pitting present. Light case-hardening on frame present. Leather holster has stiffened up with handling and storage wear, scuffs present. Frames in good condition with toning and aging to paper (not examined out of frames). Nelson A. Faerber Collection.
