Exceptional Cased and Engraved Adams's Patent Double Action Central-Fire Breech-Loading Revolver.Serial no. 2931, .450 Boxer, 6-inch octagonal barrel marked 391 STRAND LONDON on barrel flat. Front and rear sights. Top of frame marked ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS CO. Blued finish with exquisite detailed scroll-engraving throughout. Right side of frame TRADE [AJ] MARK along with ADAMS'S PATENT NO. 2931. English proofs on cylinder. Well-engraved gun with finely checkered English walnut grip with lanyard ring. Vacant German silver oval escutcheon on backstrap area. Contained in original case with ramrod, key, oiler, cleaning tools and 2 partial tin ammo boxes marked 3 DOZEN / BOXER PATENT CARTRIDGES / .450 / MADE EXPRESLY FOR / ADAMS'S .........Note: The 450 Boxer cartridges were designed by Colonel Boxer, R.A. Chief Superintendent of the Royal Laboratories, Woolwich. Inside label reads "Exclusively adopted by the Corporation of the City of London for the City Police Forces and City Prisons". Also it would be important to note that they were contractors to H.M War Department.
Condition: Fine. Retains mostly of the original bluing with some handling areas thinning and light pitting marks. Light movement to cylinder, typical for D.A. mechanism. Checkering crisp with minor wear and scuffs. Case with bumps and bruises overall, repairs to lid. Inside and accouterments in good condition with age wear, normal scuffs to partitions. Action crisp, Bore fine. Estate of the late Harry Hiroshi Harada of Piedmont, California.
