Cole Agee Engraved
Cole Agee Engraved Colt Official Police Double Action Revolver.Serial no. 720556, .38 caliber, 4-inch barrel with fixed front blade sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish with two-piece ivory grips. Extensive full coverage scrollwork from Master Engraver Cole Agee.
Note: This is one of three guns in this sale owned by Chief Lynn "Tim" Kennedy of Van Wert, OH. According to family documents provided, these 3 Cole Agee engraved guns were personally bought by Chief Kennedy and sent to Agee at different times for embellishment and engraving. Chief Kennedy developed a friendship with Agee as early as 1948, as seen by the letters. Unfortunately, the guns are not mentioned by serial number in the letters, but clearly the work of Cole Agee. One handwritten letter from Agee reads "Made a pretty pair and would like to have a photo of them if you can make me one" obviously talking about this Lot and Lot 40344. Photocopies of all the available letters accompany each lot.
Condition: Excellent as configured and refinished at time of engraving. Minor thinning at muzzle and very fine pitting. Grips excellent. Action crisp. Bore good.
