Cased English Engraved Smith & Wesson Double Action Revolver made for the Argentine Market, Circa 1881. Serial no. 8107, .44 caliber, 5-inch fluted barrel. Punch engraved throughout with floral boughs, blossoms and decorative line border work. Pictorial panel on left side with image of a bluebird. Nickel-plated finish. Case-hardened hammer and trigger. Blued triggerguard. Mother-of-pearl grips. Contained in original blue felt-lined varnished English walnut case, the inner lid with maroon leather dealer label with gilt legend reading: Unico Agente/de las renombradas/Escopetas y Revolveres/de/P. Webley & Son/de/Birmingham./La Portena/Armeria y, Cuchilleria/Casa Introductora Fundada en 1857./de Juan Canedo/611 Rivadavia 611 Buenos Aires. Vacant brass escutcheon on lid. A handsome and unique engraved Smith & Wesson with associations with England and Argentina.
Condition: Excellent to mint with very slight handling and storage wear present.
Minor spider web cracks at top of left grip. Vibrant case-hardening. Action
tight and crisp. Case with minor wear and marks. Lining with one tiny wear point
near muzzle.
