Description

Silver-Handled La Diabolique Fighting Cane.

Overall length is 35-inches and has excellent balance to it. This fighting cane has a narrow and pointed 1-inch ferrule. The wood is Ebony and the silver color handle is about 4-inches in length.
The silver color handle is highly decorated with a scene of floral elements throughout. Now for the fun part, nine thorns pull out upwards when correctly executed [I found out first hand while cataloguing it!]. There is a 3 1/2-inch silver plated three-stage handle separating the shaft from the rest of the cane, more than likely to assist in a firm grip once you are put in a situation to use this device.
While researching this cane, we found an article online from Maxime Chouinard, called Not your grandpa's cane which stated ; "in itself is a clever if terrifying weapon, which had two close parents: la diabolique (the diabolical) and la redoutable (the dreadful). All of them function around the same principle; an adversary pulling on your cane to disarm you would also pull out a series of metal thorns or blades, cutting the opponent's hand."

Condition: Fine, showing handling and age wear. Some scuffs to ebony, handle and metal elements with age wear.
