Colt Frontier Six-Shooter Single Action Army Revolver. Serial no. 178981 [frame, triggerguard and butt], .44 caliber, 7-1/2-inch round barrel with one-line Hartford address and roll-stamped COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER. Nickel finish. Two-line, three-date patent. Mother-of-pearl grips. Butt marked with "rocking H" brand. Consignor's tag indicates George West, Texas origin. Manufactured in 1898. From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg. Condition: Good to very good retaining approximately 15-20% original nickel primarily in protected areas and on gripstrap. Heavy holster wear to one side of muzzle. Scattered flaking and fine pitting. Grips are period replacements and are not quite flush to frame. Action is good. Good bore with fine pitting.
