Description
Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-51-L): Christa McAuliffe Autograph Letter Signed to a Former Student with Hand-Addressed NASA Envelope of Transmittal. A great and poignant letter dated August 8, 1985, on 8.5" x 11" NASA letterhead reading as follows:"Dear David, Thank you so much for the lovely flowers. I'm so glad you stopped by when I was home. I was nice to see you. Good luck at school next year- it's such an adventure going to college. I certainly enjoyed having you in class. Sincerely, S. Christa McAuliffe"
The original envelope is included, hand-addressed to a David Larson in Concord. She has crossed out the NASA return address and signed "McAuliffe" along with her personal Concord, New Hampshire, return address. Cancelled at Manchester on August 9, 1985.
Also included is a 10" x 8" NASA litho color print of the crew along with a memorial service one-page program from Concord High School titled "A Tribute To Our Colleague, Teacher & Friend". Rev. Walter Larson leads a prayer, likely the father of the above-mentioned David. All very fine.
